From grape waste to vegan sneakers: the founder makes a lasting impression

January 2023
78% less water consumption, 66% less CO2 emissions, 60% less PO4 emissions compared to leather sneakers - and the whole thing is 100% vegan and "cruelty free" - the arguments are unbeatable, the design is convincing: Vlace founder Viola Weller makes sneakers from grape waste. The grape waste is recycled and mixed with organic PU and recycled polyester to create a leather-like material. Using plant-based products and mixing them with recycled PU not only stops the production of new plastics, but rids the earth of waste products while giving it new life.

In November 2022, the unisex sneakers could be ordered via the Vlace website. "We at VLACE are redefining leather and giving a new life to materials that have been declared garbage. So far, 400 customers have shared the vision of VLACE with us, so that VLACE was sold out after a month," says the founder. The good news: the sneakers are up to date can be ordered again and from March 2023 there will be another 7 collections.

As early as November 2020, the Mannheim native spoke at the digital business start-up day Rhein-Neckar, now START Rhein-Neckar, in the big start-up talk about her brand launch with unusual shoelaces. One of many exciting success stories made in Rhein-Neckar - we are very happy to follow the Vlace story. vlace.de
